Ivan Toney Accuses Saudi Referees of Favoring Ronaldo After Missed Penalties
Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney has claimed his team was denied two clear penalties in a 1-1 draw with Al-Fayha in the Saudi Pro League. After netting his 27th goal of the season, he says the referee even told players to ‘focus on the AFC Champions League’ instead of discussing calls. Toney shared video evidence of three penalty appeals on social media and argued the decisions seemed to benefit Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr. He described the officiating as “questionable” and warned he could “go deeper” with his accusations. His team-mate Galeno added that the league appeared determined to “hand the trophy to one person.” Al-Ahli have formally requested full VAR recordings and explanations for the controversial calls from the competition authorities. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr currently lead the table by two points with seven games remaining in the campaign.
