Gun Duel in Kwara: Police Neutralize Bandit, Arrest 16 Suspects and Seize 98 Ammunition Rounds
Police across Kwara State arrested 16 suspected criminals in April and recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition and logistics used by kidnappers and violent gangs. In a targeted operation at Apata Aje settlement, security forces acted on intelligence of an abduction on 28 April. They engaged fleeing gunmen in a firefight, neutralizing one suspected bandit while others escaped with injuries. Efforts to rescue the abducted victims are ongoing. Recovered exhibits include 98 rounds of ammunition (20 assault cartridges and 78 AK-47 rounds), additional live AK-47 ammo, locally fabricated firearms (shotguns, pistol and revolver), a Toyota Matrix vehicle, mobile phones and suspected criminal charms. The Kwara State Police has vowed to sustain pressure on kidnappers and criminal syndicates.
