Glasgow 2026: Goodness Nwachukwu Breaks World Record to Win Discus Gold for Nigeria
Goodness Nwachukwu won gold in the women’s F42-44/F61-64 discus at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, breaking her own F42 world record with a final throw of 39.66m. The Nigerian athlete bettered her previous record by more than three metres to defend her Commonwealth title. Wales’ Funmi Oduwaiye took silver with 38.52m, while Bree Cronin claimed bronze with a season’s best throw of 36.00m. Jessica Oji added a silver medal for Nigeria in the women’s shot put after throwing 17.87m. Nigeria now sits fifth on the medals table with seven gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
