Ex-Kaduna Governor El-Rufai Granted ₦100m Bail Under Stringent Conditions
A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai bail in the sum of ₦100 million over alleged breaches of national security laws. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik approved the bail but attached strict conditions before it can be perfected. The court ordered that El-Rufai must present a surety residing in Maitama or Asokoro who holds a federal civil service Grade Level 17 position or above. The surety must submit an original land title, proof of three months’ salary, a bank authentication letter, a tax clearance certificate, a sworn affidavit of means, and a verification letter from their department. El-Rufai was also directed to surrender all valid passports, report to DSS headquarters monthly, and provide an attestation from the Kaduna State Traditional Council. Any breach of these terms will lead to immediate revocation. Outside the courtroom, tensions flared as supporters clashed with security personnel following the ruling.
