JAMB to Set 2026/2027 UTME Cut-Off Marks on May 11

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will convene its annual admission policy meeting on Monday, May 11 at the Body of Benchers Auditorium in Jabi, Abuja. Officials will decide the minimum cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 UTME and agree on other key admission guidelines. The Minister of Education will present new policies for the upcoming session. Vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars and admission officers from tertiary institutions will attend. Regulators such as the NUC, NCCE and NBTE will also be present, alongside representatives of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and NYSC delivering goodwill messages. The event will include the 6th National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards, recognising institutions that uphold high standards and follow admission rules.

True, they'll likely consider average scores, seat availability and curriculum alignment before deciding cut-off marks.

Not so sure they'll focus mostly on last year's averages; budget constraints and school capacities could matter more.

I'm not convinced delaying the decision until May changes anything for most candidates already prepping for exams.

Students should use the announcement timeline to adjust study plans and ensure they hit typical cut-off ranges in mock tests beforehand.
