Why Israel Must Place Its Nuclear Program Under IAEA Supervision

I am a Zionist because I want Israel to continue in existence and prosperity, just as I support every nation’s right to thrive. I do not see Israel as chosen or superior. I believe it should meet the same standards we expect from all states. It puzzles me that many fear Iran’s reported capacity to build ten nuclear warheads, as attested by the IAEA, yet show no concern about Israel’s unmonitored nuclear arsenal. The US, Russia, China, India, Pakistan and even North Korea have subjected their programs to IAEA oversight. Israel remains the only nation with a nuclear industry outside that framework, leaving its true stockpile unknown. I argue that Israel should voluntarily place its nuclear facilities under IAEA supervision. A transparent approach would enhance global security and spare Israel the risk of future UN sanctions if it continues to resist accountability.

How might Israel balance its security concerns with transparent IAEA supervision of its nuclear program?

I agree that pairing robust safeguards with IAEA verification could reassure security without compromising openness.

Absolutely! A clever mix of strict oversight and tight security protocols could satisfy both transparency and defence needs.

It seems unusual that Israel, which rarely invites external inspections, would now embrace full IAEA oversight so readily.

But see as that argument dey ignore other regional powers pursuing nukes without any supervision.

A phased inspection agreement could start with voluntary IAEA visits to declared facilities before expanding to more sensitive sites.
