Tragic Well Drownings in Kano Claim Three Lives
Two separate well accidents in Kano on Friday left three people dead. In Kumbotso LGA, a man drowned after falling into a well in the Semegu community. Rescue teams recovered his body and handed it over to the local police division. Later that morning in Madarin Taba village, Warawa LGA, 32-year-old Maimuna Shitu and her 18-month-old son, Harisu Muntari, who suffered from a mental illness, were pulled from another well but did not survive. Their bodies were released to family members and community leaders. The Kano State Fire Service confirmed both incidents in an official statement and said investigations are ongoing. They appealed to parents, guardians and residents to ensure all wells are securely covered to prevent further tragedies.
