Three Killed, Four Injured as Minibus Strikes Elephant in Uganda’s Murchison Falls Park
Three people died and four others were injured when a Toyota Hiace minibus collided with an elephant in Uganda’s Murchison Falls National Park on the evening of May 24. The vehicle was travelling from Arua to Kampala when it hit the animal and lost control. Police said three occupants died on the spot while the driver and three passengers were hurt. Photos of the crash were shared on social media. All seven passengers were officials from the Uganda Revenue Authority. Authorities have urged motorists to drive cautiously through protected areas, especially at night, and to observe speed limits. The Ugandan Wildlife Authority also warned that wild animals frequently cross park roads and advised drivers to stay alert.
