RSUTH Launches Ebola Awareness Campaign, Urges Early Care and Prevention
Rivers State University Teaching Hospital has launched an Ebola awareness campaign urging residents to know the symptoms, prevent transmission and seek medical care early when infection is suspected. The hospital says Ebola can spread through direct contact with infected body fluids, contaminated items and infected wild animals. Warning signs may include sudden fever, severe weakness, headache, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and unexplained bleeding. Residents are advised to wash their hands regularly, avoid contact with suspected body fluids or sick animals, and call ahead before visiting a health facility if they develop fever after possible exposure. The campaign also urges the public not to stigmatise patients.
