Tether Says KPMG Completed Full Audit of Its 2025 Accounts

Tether says KPMG US has completed an independent audit of Tether International’s 2025 financial statements, issuing an unqualified opinion. The stablecoin issuer had previously relied mainly on quarterly reserve attestations rather than a full annual audit. According to Tether, its reserves exceeded related liabilities by about $6.8 billion as of 31 December 2025. The company said the audit reviewed its balance sheet, income statement, cash flows, reserve assets, transactions, valuations and counterparties, including a physical inspection of its gold holdings. The announcement may strengthen confidence in USDT among users, institutions and regulators. However, Tether has not yet publicly released the complete audited financial statements, so market observers will be watching for fuller disclosure and continued reporting.

An unqualified opinion is significant, but it may be premature to treat one completed audit as the end of every transparency concern.
