When God Overlooked Our Ignorance

Paul stood on Mars’ Hill in Athens and noticed the people’s many altars and superstitious devotions. Among them was one inscribed “To the Unknown God.” He explained that the true God made the world and all its nations from one blood. This God does not dwell in temples built by human hands nor depend on human offerings. Yet he gives everyone life and breath and has determined the times and places where people live. He drew near so that all may seek him and find him. God overlooked their ignorance in the past. Now he calls everyone to repent because he has appointed a day to judge the world by the one he raised from the dead.
