Customs Seizes ₦809.6m Worth of Expired Vapes at Kirikiri Terminal
The Nigeria Customs Service’s Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command has seized a 40-foot container carrying expired disposable vape products with a duty-paid value of ₦809.6 million. Customs said officers flagged the container during cargo examination and found 18 pallets containing 484 cartons, or 182,340 vape devices. The products reportedly carried expiry dates ranging from 2022 to 2026, making them unsafe for use. The command said the items will be handed to the relevant government agency for regulatory action and safe disposal. It also reported collecting ₦19.4 billion in revenue in June 2026, up 35 percent from ₦14.3 billion in June 2025.
