From Bread-Hawker to Political Opportunist: Dele Momodu’s Rise and Controversies
I apologize to my aburo Kayode Ajulo SAN and others who have asked me to leave Dele Momodu alone. But his pattern of shifting loyalties and betrayals is hard to ignore. When Dele was at university he claimed he could “tie the rain” for outdoor events. He collected money from a beauty pageant owner in 1982, yet the rain still fell. After graduating with a third-class degree in Yoruba from OAU, he hawked bread on the streets until MKO Abiola took him under his wing. He learned English, joined Concorde Newspaper, and rose to become Editor. But after MKO was jailed, Dele abandoned him for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Dele later ran for president, earning just one vote, and became Atiku’s spokesman. He switched sides again, backing Governor Adeleke’s opponent in Osun. His shifting alliances and self-described appetite for handouts have led many to call him a “political glutton.” Who knows which camp he will join next?
