Delta Approves Promotion Path to GL17 for Graduate Primary School Teachers

Delta Approves Promotion Path to GL17 for Graduate Primary School Teachers

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved a new career progression structure for graduate teachers in public primary schools. The policy allows eligible teachers to advance from Grade Level 14 to Grade Level 17. The Joint Account Committee approved the proposal at a meeting in Asaba. The state’s primary education authorities say the change will improve teachers’ welfare, strengthen retention and encourage qualified graduates to work in public primary schools. Education officials also said the measure is expected to support better teaching and learning outcomes for pupils across Delta State.

The approval sounds positive, but the real test is whether eligible teachers experience the progression without unnecessary delays.

Teachers should seek clear guidance on eligibility, documentation, and the steps required under the new structure.
