Ekiti Court Acquits Two Student Leaders in APC Primary Violence Case
A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has discharged Ibitola Babatope, former Students’ Union Government president at Ekiti State University. He faced charges of unlawful assembly, cultism and election violence ahead of the APC National Assembly primary. The court also cleared Boluwaji Ishola, president of the Moba Local Government Students’ Union, after the Ministry of Justice found no evidence linking them to allegations of conspiracy to commit robbery, threats against delegates or possession of offensive weapons. Both men were among 11 suspects arrested during a police raid on a hotel in Ikun-Ekiti on the eve of the APC primary. Investigators had alleged cult-related activities and plans to intimidate delegates, but no proof was found.
