Team Nigeria Wins 24 Medals, Finishes Seventh at Commonwealth Games

Athletics Federation of Nigeria Vice President Akuchukwu Aghazu has praised Team Nigeria after its campaign at the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Nigeria’s 72-member contingent won 24 medals, including 10 gold medals, to finish seventh on the overall table. The medals came across athletics, boxing, cycling, judo, para powerlifting, weightlifting and swimming. Aghazu credited the athletes’ discipline, unity and preparation. She also commended the National Sports Commission and the Federal Government for providing funds, allowances and bonuses, which she said helped the team focus on competition. She expressed confidence that sustained support would help Team Nigeria achieve even stronger results at future international events.
