Gov Yusuf’s Spokesman Labels Kwankwaso’s NNPP Exit ‘Greatest Political Lesson’
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, NNPP national leader and 2023 presidential candidate, announced his resignation on Sunday and is set to join the African Democratic Congress. In response, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, spokesperson to the Kano State governor, called Kwankwaso’s exit the greatest political lesson he has seen. Dawakin-Tofa rejected claims that former NNPP members had abandoned the Kwankwasiyya movement or its core ideology. He stressed that none of them renounced their beliefs or stopped wearing the red cap when they left. However, he said Kwankwaso’s decision has now changed the narrative. “It has become necessary for us to pray for our leader, because today he has betrayed himself,” he quipped, before closing on a lighter note: “May God forgive us all, and may He forgive him too, lol.”
