NNPC Refutes ‘House of Thieves’ Claim, Confirms All Funds Accounted For
The former CFO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Umar Ajiya, spoke before the Senate Public Accounts Committee. He disputed allegations by Senator Adams Oshiomhole that NNPCL is a “house of thieves.” Ajiya clarified that ₦2.9 billion was spent on the company’s incorporation and rebranding, not the ₦5.8 billion figure being circulated. He stressed that all financial records were properly documented and audited. He also highlighted NNPCL’s commitment to transparency, noting that audited accounts are regularly submitted to the Auditor-General and published for public scrutiny. The Senate committee will continue its probe into the company’s expenditures.
