Piracy Hurts Creators: Why Cheap Downloads Are Not Free
Imagine cooking jollof rice to sell for ₦500 per plate, expecting a profit of ₦10,000. Then strangers steal portions of it and resell them for almost nothing. You may still make some money, but your planned profit and effort have been taken from you. That is how piracy affects filmmakers, musicians and other creators. When films, series or songs are copied and shared through unauthorised platforms, the people who invested time, money and skill into making them lose income. Use legitimate streaming and music platforms where possible. Supporting legal access helps creators earn from their work and gives them a better chance to produce more quality entertainment. Treat other people's creative work the way you would want your own work to be treated.
