Nottingham Forest Agree £45m Deal for Liam Delap After Taiwo Awoniyi Exit
Nottingham Forest have reportedly agreed a club-record £45 million deal with Chelsea for striker Liam Delap as they rebuild their attack following Taiwo Awoniyi’s departure to Coventry City. Awoniyi leaves Forest after four years, having joined for a then-record £17 million in 2022. The Nigerian striker became a fan favourite, most notably scoring the winner against Arsenal in 2023 to secure Forest’s Premier League survival. Injuries, including a serious abdominal issue in 2025, disrupted his time at the club. Chelsea signed Delap from Ipswich Town in 2025, but he struggled for regular minutes. Forest will hope he can rediscover the form that produced 12 Premier League goals and two assists for Ipswich during the 2024/25 season.
