Ronaldo Scores 980th Career Goal Amid Portugal Suspension Dispute

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 980th career goal as Al-Nassr returned to action, moving him within 20 goals of the 1,000-goal milestone. The goal came amid a dispute over his Portugal future. Ronaldo reportedly left the national team camp after being left unused in a win over Norway, despite expecting to feature. Portugal’s football federation is considering disciplinary action, with a possible ban and fine under its rules. Ronaldo has accepted responsibility for leaving camp, apologised to his teammates and said he remains available for selection after any sanction is served.
