Obi Warns Against Turning Adeboye Debate into Ethnic Clash
Peter Obi has urged Nigerians not to let discussions about Pastor Enoch Adeboye descend into tribal or ethnic conflict. He recalled how the 2023 Lagos elections shifted focus from development to suspicion along identity lines and warned similar tactics are reappearing. Obi noted that when politicians cannot compete on ideas, performance or vision, they often resort to exploiting divisions of ethnicity, religion and identity. He reminded young Nigerians that Pastor Adeboye, now 84, has spent decades preaching peace, love and national unity. The former Anambra governor appealed to youths not to be recruited into hatred or partisan battles over faith or ethnicity. He stressed that Nigeria’s future depends on citizens who refuse to be divided and choose unity over narrow interests as the 2027 elections approach.
