Tabitha Raised to Life: The Story of Kindness in Acts 9
Tabitha, also called Dorcas, was a disciple in Joppa known for helping the poor and making clothes for widows. When she became ill and died, her community mourned the loss of someone whose kindness had touched their lives. They sent for Peter, who was nearby in Lydda. When Peter arrived, the widows showed him the garments Tabitha had made. He asked everyone to leave the room, prayed, and said, “Tabitha, arise.” She opened her eyes, sat up, and was presented alive to the believers and widows. Her story in Acts 9:36–43 is a reminder of how everyday generosity can leave a lasting mark. It also speaks to the Christian hope that death does not have the final word.
