NISO Workers Protest Alleged Backdoor Recruitment and Career Stagnation
Workers of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) staged coordinated protests at facilities nationwide over alleged irregular recruitment, unregularised contract staff and stalled career progression. They alleged that some personnel brought in as aides on secondment were placed in senior roles outside approved structures. The workers said this has sidelined long-serving employees, including some who have spent years on the same grade level. The National Union of Electricity Employees is demanding a committee to conclude staff regularisation and address recruitment and promotion concerns. The workers want transparent appointments, due process and engagement with management to resolve the dispute.
