NFF Apologises After Super Falcons Miss Direct 2027 World Cup Qualification
The Nigeria Football Federation has apologised to President Bola Tinubu and Nigerian fans after the Super Falcons failed to secure direct qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup at WAFCON 2026. NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau said the federation recognised the disappointment of supporters, adding that the team entered the tournament with high expectations and significant government backing. The federation also acknowledged Tinubu’s support for Nigerian sports, including past rewards and honours for the Super Falcons. It extended its apology to the National Assembly, the National Sports Commission, sponsors, stakeholders and supporters at home and abroad.
