Why Is TikTok Exploding with Religious Skepticism?
I hadn’t checked TikTok for months. But after Arsenal lost the UCL, I jumped back on to see the banter. Instead, almost every video was calling out the falsity of Christianity and other faiths. Digging deeper, I remembered an obscure text called Otem Erectus. In a passage written over a decade ago, a vision describes a psychospiritual battle led by a deity named Atum and his messenger Otem. They free humanity from “mind slavery” imposed by religious gods like Jehovah and Allah. The prophecy foretells that sacred books will lose power. Priests and pastors will falter. People will rely on their own minds rather than ancient scriptures. Now on TikTok—especially among women—it feels like that prediction is coming true. If these gods haven’t really been “captured,” why are so many people dropping religion at once?
