Nigeria-Eligible Michael Kayode Scores and Assists on Italy Debut

Michael Kayode marked his Italy debut with a goal and an assist in the Azzurri’s 4-1 Nations League win over Turkey. The Brentford defender set up Davide Frattesi for the opening goal before scoring Italy’s second. He said he was delighted by the unexpected impact of his first senior appearance. Kayode, who was also eligible to play for Nigeria, said he did not seriously consider changing allegiance after progressing through Italy’s youth teams. He described representing Italy as a major honour.
