My Attempt to Regrow Cabbage from a Scrap: What Went Wrong
I tried to find out whether a cabbage scrap could grow into a full plant. I collected a cut cabbage base from a market, treated the bottom with wood ash to reduce fungal problems, and planted it in a raised bed. Within three days, new shoots appeared from the remaining stem. The early growth was encouraging, but it later slowed down. After about two weeks, the leaves became pale and began to wither. When I checked the roots, I found mites and worms had infested and damaged them. Although the shoots looked healthy at first, the destroyed root system stopped the plant from developing further. I plan to repeat the experiment with better pest monitoring and share the outcome in a future gardening update.
