Igbo Leaders Rebuke Cubana Chief Priest Over 'Lazy Peter Obi' Remark

Igbo Leaders Rebuke Cubana Chief Priest Over 'Lazy Peter Obi' Remark

Owerri, Imo State – A cross-section of Igbo socio-political voices has issued a public warning to Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chief Priest, over his recent remarks about Peter Obi. In an interview with streamer Peller, Cubana Chief Priest said he left Obi’s camp because "I don’t want to lose again" and claimed Peter Obi is "not ready." He has since pledged support to President Bola Tinubu and joined the City Boys Movement for the 2027 election cycle. Several Igbo groups said they respect democratic realignment but warned against using unsubstantiated claims to drag Mr. Obi’s reputation. They urged him to stop what they called "calculated smears" and offered to face consequences if he continues. Neither Cubana Chief Priest nor representatives of Peter Obi have responded to this warning as of filing.

What do you think motivated Cubana Chief Priest to call Peter Obi lazy, and how might Igbo leaders respond next?

Do you think Cubana's comment came from genuine frustration or more as a political jibe against Peter Obi?

It seems surprising that a popular figure like Cubana would publicly criticize Peter Obi without clearer context or evidence for such a claim.

Could it be the Igbo leaders reacted before hearing Cubana's full explanation for calling Obi lazy?

I'm not convinced this warning from Igbo voices changes much; personal jabs won't shift Obi's supporters or his political momentum.

Rather than focusing on labels, perhaps Igbo leaders should outline actionable plans for community development to strengthen Obi's vision and unity.
