God’s Promise of Healing: A Biblical Perspective
Many traditions about healing aren’t based on scripture. Mark 7:13 warns against letting tradition override God’s word. Here we’ll explore what the Bible teaches about healing, so we can all be on the same page. The scriptures call healing a benefit (Psalm 103:2–3) and refer to it as the children’s bread (Matthew 15:28). Jesus healed all who came to Him, regardless of background (Acts 10:38; Luke 13:16). As heirs of Abraham (Galatians 3:29), every believer is entitled to this promise. James 5:14–15 instructs us to call church elders to pray and anoint the sick. One of God’s covenant names is Jehovah Rapha, “The Lord our Healer.” Healing is in His nature. Even Mark 16:17–18 shows that believers today can lay hands on the sick and see recovery. Proverbs 4:20–22 reminds us that God’s word brings life and health. If you haven’t accepted Christ, you can pray: “Dear God, I know I’ve sinned. I invite Jesus to come into my heart. Thank You for saving me. Amen.” Receiving Him gives power to become a child of God (John 1:12).
