Lagos State says the 280-bed Ojo General Hospital is now 85% complete and could be commissioned by the end of 2026 or in the first quarter of 2027. Medical equipment and furniture have reportedly been ordered, while quality-control teams address minor issues identified on site. The state is also building a seven-floor, 180-bed Somolu General Hospital on the former local government secretariat site. Construction is about 15% complete, with completion projected for the third quarter of 2027. The existing 60-bed Somolu hospital will remain open during the work. The new Somolu facility is planned as a Head and Neck Super-Specialty Centre, offering services including plastic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, ENT care, ophthalmology and dentistry. Both projects are expected to include solar power, renewable-energy features, water management systems and infection-control measures.
