FCT High Court Orders Globus Bank to Pay ₦256m Over Contract Breach

FCT High Court Orders Globus Bank to Pay ₦256m Over Contract Breach

A Federal Capital Territory High Court has ordered Globus Bank to pay ₦256 million to Haril Global Solutions Ltd for breaching an overdraft facility agreement. The judgement was delivered by Justice Christopher Oba. The suit, FCT/HC/CV/1456/2026, named Haril Global Solutions Ltd, Chinedu Mba, Idris Olayiwola and the EFCC as defendants to the bank’s counterclaim. The claimant accused the bank of wrongful deductions and a breach of contract totaling millions of naira. In his ruling, Justice Oba confirmed that both parties signed a valid letter of offer and an overdraft facility agreement on July 4, 2023. He held that the bank’s deductions violated the terms of their agreement.

Yes, this case suggests a lapse in their processes or funds control that led to the breach.

It's surprising that a major bank like Globus would risk its reputation over a single contract dispute.

I'm not convinced this ruling captures the full story; maybe there were clauses misunderstood by both parties.

Companies should regularly review contract terms and maintain clear communication to avoid costly court battles like this one.
