Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, will hold its combined 20th and 21st convocation ceremony from Sunday, 15 to Friday, 20 November 2026. The Vice-Chancellor announced at a recent Senate meeting that the six-day event will open with a thanksgiving service and include degree awards, honorary degrees, a convocation lecture and the conferment of Emeritus Professorial titles. The November dates align with the birthday of the university’s namesake, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, after the Governing Council declined the earlier June proposal. The vice-chancellor reaffirmed that student and staff welfare remains a top priority throughout his administration.

A combined ceremony spanning six days seems unusually long, especially when compared to the single-day events most universities hold.

They should organise adequate seating and parking plans well in advance so graduates and guests no go hustle for space on ceremony days.
