Lagos Seals Surulere Church After Viral Complaints Over Late-Night Noise

The Lagos State Government has sealed The All Christians Gathering Ministry in Surulere after an investigation found that noise from the church violated environmental regulations. The closure followed a resident’s public complaints that late-night noise was keeping neighbours awake. Officials shut the premises on Sunday morning, November 8, and said it would remain sealed until further notice. The resident said the disturbance had continued into the early hours and made it difficult to sleep. He also raised concerns about the effect on nearby households, including one with a baby. He alleged that someone he confronted about the noise threatened him after he said he planned to report it. The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said enforcement officers confirmed the violation. He warned that religious institutions and other establishments must follow environmental rules, and that enforcement would apply to everyone.
