Shehu Sani Dismisses Ex-DSS Claim That Abacha Died During Sex
Former senator Shehu Sani has rejected a new account suggesting General Sani Abacha died during sexual intercourse. The allegation comes from retired DSS officer Dennis Amachree in his memoir, claiming Abacha suffered cardiac arrest in bed at the Presidential Villa on June 8, 1998. Sani described the story as misleading and wrote on X that no convincing evidence supports it. He urged Nigerians to ignore the narrative, saying it relies solely on literary description. Amachree says he traced the woman present at Abacha’s final moments to Lagos and questioned her after the death. She allegedly told investigators, “I did not kill him; he died on top of me.” Sani insists this testimony lacks credible proof and should be dismissed.
