My View on Why Dangote May Take His Refinery Public
I do not think Dangote taking the refinery public would be mainly about making investors rich. I believe it could also increase the company’s market valuation and, in turn, raise the value of his stake. If public trading pushes the share price up significantly, the refinery could be valued far above what private-market estimates suggest. That could strengthen Dangote’s position among the world’s richest people. Whatever the motivation, I believe retail investors may still have an opportunity to buy into the business and grow with it. Dangote forward ever.
