Nigeria’s Super Falcons revived their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title defence with a determined 1-0 win over Zambia in Group C. Asisat Oshoala scored in the eighth minute to give the defending champions an early lead. Nigeria had entered the match under pressure after losing 3-2 to tournament debutants Malawi in their opening fixture. The Falcons played more than 50 minutes with 10 players after defender Blessing Demehin received a straight red card in the 40th minute. Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and the defence resisted sustained pressure from Zambia, while coach Justin Madugu introduced fresh players to protect the advantage. The result gives Nigeria their first three points and keeps their knockout-stage hopes alive.
