IPOB Accuses Soludo of U-Turn on Calls for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned Governor Chukwuma Soludo for distancing himself from earlier support for Nnamdi Kanu’s release. In a statement, IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful reminded that Soludo once visited Kanu in detention and publicly urged his freedom. The group says recent government comments branding similar calls as inappropriate contradict the governor’s own record. IPOB defended former Labour Party candidate Peter Obi’s demand for Kanu’s release and accused Soludo of political motivation. The organisation insists the campaign transcends ethnic interests and champions justice, fairness and national reconciliation. IPOB renewed its call for Kanu’s immediate and unconditional release, stressing that his detention remains a flashpoint in the South-East and beyond. The Anambra State Government has yet to respond, while Kanu continues to face ongoing court proceedings.
