Why I Ended My Marriage and Claimed My Bride Price
I want to share how my marriage ended. Last October, I traveled with my father from Anambra to Benue for my introduction ceremony. We were asked for goats, pigs, and a list of items costing over ₦3 million. Although I questioned the demands, my in-laws insisted the pigs and goats were non-negotiable. We set a December wedding date and married traditionally on December 29th. After the wedding, I was hopeful. But for five months, my wife struggled to conceive and suffered miscarriages. In June, she began acting distant and complained that marriage had taken away her freedom. She told me she wanted to return to her old ways. I had to make a tough decision. I asked her to choose between our marriage and her life on the streets. She chose the latter. I contacted her brother to demand my bride price back, and they returned it this morning. I have moved on and learned that we were not meant to be together. I appreciate the advice I received here.
