FG Dismisses Claims of Nigeria’s Collapse, Highlights Gains in Security and Economy

On April 8, the Federal Government rejected assertions that Nigeria is on the brink of collapse. At the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria’s 81st General Assembly and 23rd Annual General Meeting in Abuja, Information Minister Mohammed Idris called such warnings “pessimistic narratives.” The minister pointed to coordinated military operations and improved intelligence-sharing. He said these efforts have neutralised bandits and reduced large-scale insurgent control in the north. Rapid-response units are now deployed nationwide to protect lives and property. On the economic front, Idris noted that tough fiscal decisions are stabilising public finances and creating a more transparent environment. He believes these steps will reaffirm Nigeria’s appeal to global investors.
