One recalled running away at 12 after a severe beating, while another described fearing death as her only escape. Research shows mothers often spend the most time with their children and can unintentionally become their first abusers. Unresolved trauma, stress from poverty or a difficult marriage, and misplaced envy can all fuel harmful behaviour. Daughters deserve safety and unconditional love.
