Why Nigeria Should Lead a Proposed Pan-African Federal Government
I propose a three-year term for the first Pan-African federal government. Nigeria, with its quarter-billion population and political experience, should occupy the presidency. Ethiopia could serve as vice-president or prime minister. With nearly 140 million people, it has dealt with diverse regional demands. Egypt could oversee domestic affairs, using its 120 million strong administrative capacity. Other key portfolios will go to leading nations. Tanzania’s disciplined military is suited for war and intelligence. South Africa, Kenya, DRC, Sudan, Uganda, and Algeria can head crucial ministries such as foreign affairs, finance, education, health, energy, and industry.
