Tinubu Congratulates Gombe’s Maryam Dan’Azumi on Qur’anic Competition Victory in Saudi Arabia
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Maryam Ibrahim Dan’Azumi of Gombe State for winning the women’s category of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’anic Competition in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Maryam competed against participants from 132 countries and won a prize of 300,000 Saudi riyals, reportedly valued at about ₦120 million. Her category covered memorisation of the entire Qur’an, recitation, Tajweed and interpretation. Tinubu described the achievement as a source of national pride. He also praised Maryam’s parents, teachers and mentors, noting that her elder sister, Hajara Ibrahim Dan’Azumi, won a similar competition in Jordan in 2024.
