Speaking in tongues is very demonic. This goes to the charismatics. The problem with them is that they are very emotional. They seem to have a genuine love for God but they go with the flow of their emotions. If you say what they like, they go with the flow of their emotions and support you 100%, and vice versa. They are very unbalanced. Text (1 Cor 14 kjv) 1. Vs 1 – Desire spiritual gifts but don’t be hunting after tongues. To prophesy means to teach with the Bible (Rev 19:10 kjv). If you want to prophesy, talk about the future events in the Bible, like the second coming of Jesus. 2. Vs 2 – Only God knows what you are saying. If you are cursing God, only Him knows because you are speaking mysteries. 3. Vs 3 – Prophesy is the most important thing. When you talk about Heaven, second coming, battle of Armageddon, Millennial reign, Judgement seat of Christ…It all edifies. 4. Vs 4 shows that speaking in an unknown tongue is based off of selfishness. Charity does not edify itself. 5. Vs 5 shows that a Bible believer is far better than charismatic. Tongues began on the Pentecost for the purpose of getting the gospel out to all those people in their own language. Tongues is a sign to the Jews. 6. Vss 6-9 shows that you are just wasting your breath. It must be a language one can understand. 7. Vss 9-11 shows you are a Barbarian. 8. Vs 19 This is the greatest commentary there is in tongues. You can do more good than every charismatic person that is out there in the world. The purpose of preaching and teaching is to help; and how can you help them if they can’t understand you. 9. Vs 20 – This is what God said to stupid people “In malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.” 10. Vs 22 – shows that tongues are for a sign to the Jews, not us Gentiles. See (1 Cor 1:22 kjv). 12. Vs 26 -shows you are just showing off. You are worshiping yourselves, not God. 13. Vs 27 – This states the rules for speaking in tongues a. Any man: Only men spake in tongues in the Bible. No woman spake in tongues. You now wonder why charismatic churches is filled with women and women preachers. b. By two or three present. c. By course: one at a time. d. Interpreter: one of those two or three should be the interpreter. 14. Vs 28 – No interpreter? Let him be silence. 15. Vs 30 – While you’re sitting there and you get a message from God, don’t jump and go on. Hold your peace let the person speaking finish. 16. Vs 32 – It’s not the idea that you couldn’t control it, that you were uncontrolled in tongues blah blah blah etc.. See (Prov 16:32 kjv) You have control over that and that spirit is subject to you. All these uncontrolled weeping, hollering, tongues, has nothing to do with God or whatsoever. This verse 32 is not talking about prophets in the sense of Elijah and Jeremiah etc.. He is talking about the person that is prophesying here. 17. Vs 33 shows speaking in an unknown tongue is not of God for God is not the author of confusion. If there is confusion about something, then something is not right. There is an order, and order does not mean formality, its just balance. It’s not ritualistic either. 18. Vs 34 – Women keeping silence in churches is in reference to speaking in tongues. The Bible said let the redeemed of the Lord say so, everything that has breath praise the Lord. In (Acts 21:9 kjv) daughters prophesied, but they don’t prophesy in the church. A woman can give testimony, sing etc.. but not to speak in tongues in the church. 19. Vs 36 – Pride is what he is dealing with here. 20. Vs 37 – Paul says the rules are clear and this is the commandment of God. 21. Vs 38 – shows that God knew how people will react. Don’t get emotional reading this. Accept the truth. If you want to reject it, God will let you gather enough rope to hang yourself. Let the Bible be your final authority, and not your daddy G.O. or your emotions. Nobody is taking your salvation away from you. Speaking in an unknown tongue is not an evidence of salvation. 22. Vs 39 – Forbid not speaking in tongues, but go by the rules without asking questions. No mitigating circumstances. Use it to minister too. 23. Vs 40 shows that God is the God of order and decency. Order is demanded in court, home, etc.. the same in church.
