In a message marking the 2026 International Literacy Day, she called for equal access to education and increased attention to adult learning. The global observance is themed, “Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity.” She said adults with reading, writing, digital and financial skills are better positioned to improve their livelihoods, grow businesses and support their children’s education.
