APC Primaries Under Fire for Ticket Sales as Election Date Shifts
With the House of Representatives primaries set for Saturday, the North-Central APC Forum warns party officials have turned the process into a cash cow. They claim money is changing hands for tickets, forcing the APC to postpone primaries originally slated for May 15. Forum chairman Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga said no clear reason was given for the date change. Instead, he alleged national officers are collecting fees from aspirants in exchange for party tickets. This practice, he warned, undermines President Tinubu’s call for free and fair contests. The group noted that the final list of cleared aspirants is still withheld. They argued this delay lets officials favour those who pay. In Rivers State, the Forum pointed to alleged screening bias against aspirants tied to Governor Sim Fubara. The North-Central APC Forum urged urgent action to stop these “self-centred” and “commercially motivated” moves. It warned the party risks a crisis before 2027 if such abuses continue.
