UNIZIK Students Sweep National Chinese Bridge Competition, Set for Global Final
Students from the Confucius Institute at Nnamdi Azikiwe University excelled at the Nigeria National Final of the 19th Chinese Bridge Competition, winning four awards and claiming the top three national positions in an online contest. Micheal Uchechi Justina emerged as national champion and will represent Nigeria at the Global Final in China later this year, accompanied by her Chinese language teacher. Umezurike Favour Chinaetugo received the Best Eloquence Award and shared the second prize with Okoye Chikadibia Faith. Prof. Yu Zhangbao noted that this victory marks the twelfth national championship for UNIZIK since 2018 and the seventh in the secondary school category. Deputy Director Prof. Anas Egwuatu Elochukwu added that past champions consistently advance to the global top 30, earning world prizes and African titles. Vice Chancellor Prof. Ugochukwu Anyaehie congratulated the students and praised the institute’s role in fostering cultural exchange and language learning between Nigeria and China.
