Youth Organisations Urge Probe of Ebonyi Governor Over Alleged Threats to Opposition
The Nigerian Youth Organisation and a coalition of youth groups have asked the Federal Government and security agencies to caution Ebonyi State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru over alleged inflammatory statements aimed at opposition members of the PDP. At a press conference in Abuja, NYO deputy president Nasir Doka warned that such rhetoric threatens democratic values and may intimidate critics. He reminded public office holders that citizens’ rights to freedom of expression and political participation are guaranteed by the constitution. The youth bodies called on the governor to publicly reaffirm his commitment to political tolerance. They also urged security agencies to ensure political discourse does not lead to harassment or violence and appealed for calm among Ebonyi youths to protect unity.
