James Rodríguez Retires From Colombia International Duty After 131 Caps

Colombia midfielder James Rodríguez has retired from international football after earning 131 caps and scoring 31 goals for his country. The 35-year-old made his senior debut in 2011, captained Colombia on several occasions and played at three World Cups and four Copa América tournaments. He thanked supporters for the matches, emotions and dreams shared while representing the national team. Rodríguez became a global star at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where his six goals earned him the Golden Boot as Colombia reached the quarter-finals. His volley against Uruguay also won FIFA’s Puskás Award. He recently joined Atlético Nacional after leaving Minnesota United, having previously played for Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Everton.
