Stellamaris Okafor Denies Squandering Mr Ibu’s Estate: ‘Land Sale Proceeds Covered Funeral’

Stellamaris Okafor Denies Squandering Mr Ibu’s Estate: ‘Land Sale Proceeds Covered Funeral’

Stellamaris Okafor, widow of the late Nollywood star John “Mr Ibu” Okafor, has rejected her stepson’s claim that she sold off her husband’s properties and kept the money. Somtochukwu, Mr Ibu’s fourth child, accused her of secretly selling estates in Enugu, Asaba and Lagos and pocketing the proceeds. He made the allegation shortly after she appealed for financial help, saying she and her three children were struggling with rent and school fees. In a follow-up interview with a popular content creator, Stellamaris clarified that she only sold a village land parcel. She said the entire N17 million from that sale was used for funeral expenses and that she consulted her late husband’s children before proceeding. She also revealed that Mr Ibu never told her about his previous marriage or children. Well-wishers have since contributed over N7.5 million to support her family since his passing.

Is there any public record of the land sale that would confirm the amount matched funeral expenses?

It's curious that no official records from those land sales have been shared by either party involved.

A simple transparency step could help: publish sale receipts and clarify funeral expenses to settle this dispute calmly.
